But that can seem like an insurmountable, expensive proposition to budget-tight towns and cities. Regional Plan Association produced research about simple ways to think about bringing green infrastructure to cities at any scale. My role was to create a concept that would pull the research together, effectively communicate the methods and help the audience – city and town leaders – get to work putting rain and stormwater to good use. 

We created a language that carried throughout the book and used the available case studies to drive them home. Along the way we did a lot of exploration of how water flowed through the system, but broke it down in the end to 9 different categories of action – simple, tight phrases ('Code it', 'Flip it') that would carry the meaning a bit farther and have a lingering resonance.
